‘Small faces’ is a series of paintings made especially for coffee houses, bars and restaurants. They reflect he essence of what these places are all about: people getting together by the counter or around tables, exchanging the stories of the day over their coffee’s, pastries or what have you. All backgrounds, sexes and ages are there, and nobody seems particularly more important than the other. They are ‘small faces’ - as we are all – social beings with the need to listen and to be heard every now and then.
Small Faces # 4 portrays the gathering crowd from an unusual point of view: the table top. Or rather, from the cup of coffee looking up at the faces around the table. We all know what a capuccino looks like. But now we know also how a capuccino sees us…
