I am a figurative painter of city scenes. I often paint coffee bars, both exterior and interior, and I tend to capture people in moments of conversation, work or contemplation.  In this painting, two women are relaxing outside a SoHo cafe on a bright summer’s day sipping coffees and engaged in a conversation.  Not only are they drinking coffee, but the colors echo the beans. I used greens and browns in the environment to evoke coffee beans from harvest through roasting.
